David G. peacefully on April 17, 2024, age 88, of Oaklyn. He was the devoted husband of the late Jacqueline (née DuCoin) Aron. He is survived by his children, Cheryl Aron Branco, Thomas Aron (Elizabeth), and Ronald Aron (Marcie). David was the proud grandfather of Joseph, III (Andrea), Bethany (Valeriy Vayner), David (Erica), and Andrew Branco; Karrsen, Easton, and R.J. Aron. He was the cherished great-grandfather of Ava, Alexandria, Joseph IV, Valeriy, and Evelyn. He is also survived by his dear sister-in-law Barbara (DuCoin) DiOrio, and many loving nieces and nephews. David served his community with a distinguished firefighting career beginning in 1955 with the Welcome Volunteer Fire Company in Oaklyn. He became Chief of Welcome in 1972 and Borough Chief later that year after successfully negotiating the merger of the two Oaklyn fire departments into the present-day Oaklyn Fire Department. He served in many other capacities in the OFD including President (2003-2007), Trustee Chair (2016-2021), President of the Relief Association (2014-2022), and was a Life Member of the Department. During the last few years, Dave was still a presence in the department and enjoyed the camaraderie and friendship of his fellow members. David became the first full-time Camden County Fire Marshal in 1973 and served in that capacity for nearly 25 years. Under his direction, the Fire Marshal’s office grew to 13 staff members and conducted 800-900 fire investigations per year. In 1977, he was entrusted with the oversight of the Camden County Fire Academy where he worked with the instructional staff of the County Chiefs Association in providing a structured fire service education to the firefighters of the County. David was also President of Aron Movers, the business he established with his wife, Jacqueline in 1958. Relatives, friends and neighbors are invited to gather with the family on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at the Oaklyn Fire Department, 20 W. Clinton Avenue, Oaklyn between 9:00 am and 11:00 am. A remembrance Ceremony will begin at 11:00 am. Interment and a graveside tribute will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 500 Delsea Dr., Washington Twp. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Dave’s beloved Oaklyn Fire Department.
